چکیده

We develop an automated wavelet-based spectral method for constructing an approximate confidence interval on the steady-state mean of a simulation output process. This procedure, called WASSP, determines a batch size and a warmup period beyond which the computed batch means form an approximately stationary Gaussian process. Based on the log-smoothed-periodogram of the batch means, WASSP uses wavelets to estimate the batch means log-spectrum and ultimately the steady-state variance constant (SSVC) of the original (unbatched) process. WASSP combines the SSVC estimator with the grand average of the batch means in a sequential procedure for constructing a confidence-interval estimator of the steady-state mean that satisfies user-specified requirements on absolute or relative precision as well as coverage probability. An extensive performance evaluation provides evidence of WASSP’s robustness in comparison with some other output analysis methods.

Power SystemAnalysis for Nonsinusoidal Steady State Studies Based onWavelets

In this paper power system model is represented in a new domain that relates to Multi-Resolution Analysis (MRA) space. By developing mathematical model of elements in this space using Galerkin method, a new alternative method for power system simulation in nonsinusoidal and periodic conditions is developed. The mathematical formulation and characteristics of new proposed space is expressed. Als...

A Procedure for Building Confidence Interval on the Mean of Simulation Output Data

One of the existing methods to build a confidence interval (c.i.) for the mean response in a single steady state simulation system is the batch means method. This method, compared to the other existing methods (autoregressive representation, regenerative cycles, spectrum analysis, standardized time series), is quite easy to understand and to implement and performs relatively well. However, the ...

Stochastics and Statistics A wavelet - based spectral procedure for steady - state simulation analysis q

We develop WASSP, a wavelet-based spectral method for steady-state simulation analysis. First WASSP determines a batch size and a warm-up period beyond which the computed batch means form an approximately stationary Gaussian process. Next WASSP computes the discrete wavelet transform of the bias-corrected log-smoothed-periodogram of the batch means, using a soft-thresholding scheme to denoise t...

Multiple solutions of a nonlinear reactive transport model using least square pseudo-spectral collocation method

The recognition and the calculation of all branches of solutions of the nonlinear boundary value problems is difficult obviously. The complexity of this issue goes back to the being nonlinearity of the problem. Regarding this matter, this paper considers steady state reactive transport model which does not have exact closed-form solution and discovers existence of dual or triple solutions in so...
